Once again we caravanned down to Baltimore for Artscape, this year we had four cars in our caravan, Ecco, The Cat, Road Rage, and the Plaidmobile.
Ecco found it's long lost big brother on the drive down.
We had lunch at the home of Tim McNally, owner of the plaidmobile. While he wouldn't be join us in Baltimore, Hoop stopped by with his van. From left to right is Hoop's van, Road Rage (with a closeup of the windshield banner), Ecco, and the Plaidmobile.
Upon arriving in Baltimore we headed over to the American Visionary Arts Museum for a get-together and artcar symposium.
At AVAM a large group of voulenteers were working feverishly to finish up 'Baltimore Blues' in time for the next day's parade. It was estimated there was over 2,000 pounds of glass and pottery glued onto this car.
Ah the joys of keeping our artcars on the road. Christa is here repairing Ecco after it overheated just after the artcar parade. Lady Liberty also had a pulley bearing seize up, Ecco nearly overheated again before we discovered it's fan relay had blown, and another artcar ran out of gas while caravanning to dinner that night.
Some cars from Artscape. First is an Eagle Vision that in addition to the paint has neat 3d effects with glass beads. Next is the Star Car another car from New England. This giant Chrysler Imperial's designs are laid out with yarn. This former mail jeep seems to be sufering from an infestation of flamingos.
The Toy Machine is covered in children's toys, and came all the way from California. The Fairy Car has amazing hand=painted fairies all over it. A sedan covered in beautifully painted flowers.
Artscape had over thirty artcars this year, once again they were very popular with the crowds. A great shot of Whimsy showing how every metal part of the car has been covered in detailed paintings.
